As a general rule, we no longer hold physical auditions for our projects, due to the ease and convenience of auditioning online, both for you and us.
How to audition "online"
Make or send us a video that showcases your acting or other talent
If you have a mobile phone or video camera, make a quick video of yourself rehearsing a monologue, cold reading from a script or scene of your choice. If you have a demo reel on a service such as YouTube or Vimeo, send us a link to that! A form has been provided below so you can submit a link to your video.
We may have a role for you...
Please be advised that due to the number of submissions, we cannot guarantee that everyone who auditions online for us will get a role in one of our productions. We will do our best to at least contact you and let you know when we have received your submission, provided you have provided some means for us to contact you.
Preference will be given to those who meet any of the following criteria:
- Are willing to travel to locations where we're shooting our projects (possibly at your own expense, depending on the budget of the project) We are currently based in Logan County, Ohio (about an hour northwest of Columbus) until further notice, and most of our projects are shot within a 25 mile radius of East Liberty, Ohio.
- Can realistically pass for one of the characters in a project we're making. Most of our roles are written so just about anyone can play them. Except where absolutely essential to the physical description of the character, race, physical sex, gender identity, age, etc. are not considered as a factor when casting. (For example, a white male actor would probably not be cast to play Harriet Tubman, nor would a 19-year-old female actor likely be cast to play Ebeneezer Scrooge.)
Why Audition online?
It saves time and money for you and us!
Although we believe the only legitimate auditions are free for the participant, there is almost always some degree of expense in regard to your time and travel expenses to get to the audition. Auditioning online saves you the time, money, and hassle of traveling to the location of the audition (unless you're one of the ones who used to walk to them), and saves us the expense of renting a facility, advertising our audition, and hoping people can show up at the specified time and date. (More often than not, in western Ohio, you maybe have ten people show up at an audition for every 1,000 flyers you put out, and that's on a good day!).
What you need to know about auditioning for us...
If we don't cast you, it doesn't mean we had any issues whatsoever with you, your acting, or your audition. It may simply mean we had a particularly heavy volume of submissions, and after some very hard decisions, others were cast.
We cannot guarantee a response if you are not cast. Sorry, it's nothing personal. We try to reach out to everyone we can, but it's just not always possible.
Sansevieria Media Group is presently not a signatory to any major talent unions. If you are a member of a talent union such as SAG/AFTRA, Equity, ACTRA, UBCP, this may affect your ability to be cast in one of our productions, based on the regulations of the unions. We're looking into the feasibility of becoming signatory in the near future, and/or working with SAGIndie to feasibly cast member performers in future projects, but presently we are not signatory. We are looking into it, and plan to have remedied this before production of the Nobody's Property movie begins.
